The Center for Public Service is committed to doing its part to help serve the New Orleans community by providing and facilitating opportunities for those both locally and nationally, who wish to commit themselves to volunteering for the betterment of the New Orleans. We applaud your effort to help rebuild the City of New Orleans. Please follow the instructions below to help us facilitate your needs in an efficient manner. Once again, thank you.
- Read the possible volunteer groups you can work with: (link coming soon)
- Email Avery Brewton (abrewton@tulane.edu) with your top 3 choices of organizations that you would like to volunteer with.
- In your email please include the dates which you plan on visiting New Orleans, and/or Tulane University.
- Please indicate who the contact person is and provide us with a number and we will contact that person within a couple of days to make sure that all the information was received correctly and to establish a line of communication for when you arrive.
- If you are part of a charity group or school, please indicate this.
- Also, if you have any affiliations with Tulane University (i.e. Parent Groups, Alumni etc...) please indicate.
- If you believe that you will need housing accommodations, please indicate this in your correspondence. We may be able to help you find and/or make arrangements.
- Please forward this information as soon as possible. We will need to check with your desired volunteer group(s) to make sure they have projects taking place during your particular visiting dates.
- You will be contacted a few days before your arrival to make sure that you have all the information necessary to participate in your desired volunteer project(s). For example, location of project(s), project coordinator(s) and time the project(s) will start and stop for each day of your visit. We will verify that you have arrived safely in New Orleans and your volunteer experience is going according to plan.
- After your visit has concluded, James will contact you to talk about your volunteer project to make sure everything went as planned. We ask that you complete a brief survey/evaluation of the project(s) and your experience in New Orleans. The information you provide will be used to make sure we are achieving the desired goal for our volunteers.
